I am Joey van Diest. I do programming professionally, and I live in the Netherlands. I have been trading for about six years. I trade futures, stocks and crypto, and I am building a trading indicator of my own. Every tool on Economicium was built by me. That means what each tool does, and whether its numbers are accurate, is my responsibility.

Why these tools exist

Both of the biggest things here exist because I wanted them and refused to pay for them.

I created the personal finance app so I could see exactly where my money was going. Before that I only knew roughly. I built the trading journal for a different reason. There were plenty of good ones, but they all wanted a monthly subscription. A trading journal is really just a table of your own trades with some calculations on top. That did not seem worth paying for every month, so I wrote one myself and made it free.

Every Economicium calculator displays the maths it performed, and you can see each step. Most other tools hand you a position size without showing how they got there, which asks you to trust them at the most expensive point in a trade. I would rather be open about what the calculator did and how it reached its answer, so you can check the work and decide whether you agree with it.

What I am not

I am not a licensed financial adviser, and nothing here is personal advice. I have no clients, I manage nobody else's money, and I sell no financial products. My experience is six years of trading with my own money. I also write software for a living, so I am used to checking a number myself before I believe it. These tools are built the same way.

Tools and explanations here are for general information and education. They are not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Trading carries risk, including the risk of losing more than you put in.

Calculations run in your browser wherever possible, so nothing you type reaches a server of mine. Data-backed tools are refreshed from named public sources on a stated schedule, and the methodology page lists every source and how often each one updates.

I use AI to help with drafting and research. Nothing goes out on that basis alone: I check every figure, formula and data source against the original publication before a tool goes live, and I don't cite a source I haven't opened and read myself.
